M-extend enjoys the benefits of Goodwatt
To encourage sustainable mobility among our employees, we have decided to participate in the national GoodWatt scheme. M-extend France was the first company in the Rennes area to trial the scheme.
“Since 2018, we have been using our mobility plan to encourage staff to use means of transport other than just their car. GoodWatt appealed to us because it is a complete, turnkey scheme. The fully equipped e-bike is of high-quality, and staff are trained to use it safely. The key point of the scheme is the support each employee receives to adapt to this change in practice. It’s good for the health of our staff and for the planet”, says Déborah Gohard, M-extend Group’s Head of Sustainability.

Details of the scheme This turnkey system enables employers to promote the use of e-bikes for their employees for everyday travel, particularly between home and the workplace.
Bikes and equipment were handed over on Tuesday 22 June, on a month’s loan, to twenty employees eager to try them out for themselves.
The e-bike is an alternative to the car, while being more pleasant to use than a conventional bike, as Logistics Technician François Wietrich explains: “An e-bike will allow me to try out a new way of travelling between home and work; it’s a substitute for the car. And it’s nicer than a regular bike because you barely break a sweat. What’s more, the equipment means I can use it in any weather.”
Sylvain Maugère, warehouse staff member at M-extend France, predicts a time saving: “An e-bike will save me a few minutes getting to and from work, as I usually walk. And it’s easier on hills as I don’t need to put in as much effort.” »
Online training and coaching Staff benefited from an hour of training on how to ride in town, with trainers from the French Cycling Federation.
There is also an online coaching system which allows everyone to plan their routes and obtain distances travelled. The company can see the total number of kilometres travelled by the 20 employees, and the CO2 emissions avoided. In just two days, employees covered more than 500 km, saving almost 50 kg in CO2 emissions.
The Goodwatt fleet of bikes will later move on to another business or community in the Rennes area. This scheme will last for a year.
